The Long Hole Rig Operator is accountable for the safe operation, set-up and tramming of the HPS H80 LHR, achieving established daily operational targets,give training, recording prescribed operational data and reports, ensuring maintenance of rig and related equipment HPS equipment.
Job Vacancy Description (Tasks and Responsibilities)
Maintains Safety, Health and Environmental practices according to standards and procedures
Performing proper machine setup procedures.
Carries out a pre-use inspection by using a checklist and physically testing the equipment
Drills required holes using the relevant drill rig according to set standards and procedures, diagnoses problem areas and reports any safety concerns to relevant Supervisor e.g., flammable gas detection, bad ground conditions, ventilation deficiency
Maintains and performs repairs on equipment according to standards and procedures e.g., replace mechanical and electrical components, scheduled planned maintenance, fault finding
Performs end of shift procedures
Performs any other activities as per instruction necessary for the effective completion of his work
Operating H80 LHR to drill long hole holes as per drill design
Candidate Requirements (Skills and Experience)
Matriculated or Equivalent with a recognized Blasting Certificate
Drill Rig Certificate is essential.
At least 3 years’ experience as a Long hole Rig Operator
Medically fit for the position and environment
